Armenian Heritage

Hayapahpanum — literally "preserving what is Armenian" — is the ongoing effort of Armenians everywhere, including in the diaspora, to keep their language, faith, and traditions alive across generations.

Language and faith

The Armenian language and the Armenian Apostolic Church are the two pillars most diaspora communities build their identity around, from Sunday services to weekend language schools for children.

Everyday traditions

Heritage is kept alive in small, everyday ways too — home cooking, music and dance, name days, and the stories grandparents pass down — as much as it is in churches and cultural institutions.

Passing it forward

Every generation of the diaspora faces the same quiet challenge: making sure children raised far from Armenia still feel it as home. Community schools, scouting groups, and cultural associations exist precisely for that.
