Autumn hiking in Troodos: trails and tips

While the coast is still warm, the air in the Troodos Mountains is already cool, which makes autumn the ideal hiking season. The Caledonia trail near Platres leads through the forest to a waterfall, while the Artemis trail around Mount Olympus opens up wide views across the island. Set off early, bring plenty of water and proper shoes, and pack an extra layer for the evening, as it cools quickly at altitude. A hike combines easily with a visit to Kykkos Monastery or the mountain villages.
